I don’t even know where to begin with this blog post. So much has happened in the last year since these two said I do that it’s hard to know where to start. When I first met Cristin and Shawn, I knew that we’d be fast friends but I never could have guessed how much they would bless not only my business but also me personally. Cristin has sang my praises from the day of her wedding and getting to continue to photograph their love story this year has been such an incredible blessing.
Cristin and Shawn said I do on a beautiful May day at the Ruby Cora. Their hilltop ceremony was absolutely gorgeous and every detail of their day was carefully put together. There was so much joy and love that surrounded these two and you could tell they were crazy about one another. Their portraits are still some of my favorites of all time.
I asked Cristin and Shawn to reflect on their big day and their first year of marriage. They shared their blessings, struggles and advice to newlyweds.

How amazing is it that Cristin is learning to lean more on her husband! Marriage is about always having someone in your corner and Cristin’s pregnancy has definitely showed her that more. I also love that Shawn doesn’t seem to have any struggles from their first year. I’ve seen them a couple of times over the past year and am still in awe of the way he looks at her. She is his whole world and soon he’ll have a little girl to spoil as well.
This is incredible advise especially for those currently planning a wedding. A wedding is a huge time committment and it can be easy to get sucked into all the details of your big day. It’s important not only on your wedding day but in the years that follow to always listen to your partner. To slow down and really enjoy their presence and to listen to their desires and struggles. Only then can you build a strong marriage that will survive the test of time.
Oh my gosh! I am so excited for baby Jones to be here soon. One of the best parts about photographing weddings is watching my couples grow their families. I am so excited to watch this sweet family grow and can’t wait to meet baby Brynlynn.
If I’m being honest, this is my favorite part of every wedding day but was especially magical this day. Shawn was so excited he was literally beaming from ear to ear. He couldn’t stay still and was talking a mile a minute. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a groom more impatient to marry the woman of his dreams.
I still can’t get over this restored Cadillac! Shawn worked so hard to get it ready for their big day and even though it sprinkled a little bit during the reception, it cleared up just in time for their big exit!
Happy Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Jones!
