WHERE DID THIS YEAR GO!?!
I swear I was just downtown last year celebrating New Years yesterday. It cannot be another year already! It seems like time goes faster and faster with no hope of ever slowing down. Do you ever wish you could slow time down? Not look at your watch, phone, email or work in general for a day, a week, even a month? Sometimes I wish I could just hit pause and enjoy the moments that seem to whisk past me without any mind to the fact that I probably won’t remember what happened yesterday next week because I’ve got so much going on that I just have to live in the moment and try to not get drug under by the rip tides of time.
Despite the fact that time has gone entirely too fast it has been an amazing and eventful year. 2015 has definitely been a year to remember. This year I helped my best friend celebrate her 21st birthday on New Years Eve. We had a blast downtown celebrating with everyone on Broadway.
I also completed and showed my senior thesis exhibition! I am so proud of how it turned out and cannot thank everyone enough for helping to make it happen. The hours of sleep that I missed putting this together all became worth it when I saw it all displayed in the Nashville Masonic Lodge for everyone to see. That location was the perfect place to display what I am calling my greatest gallery show to date. If you weren’t able to make it out to see the show or didn’t see my blog about it check out the photos below to see my senior thesis show!
I AM A COLLEGE GRADUATE!
That’s right I graduated from Watkins College of Art, Design & Film with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Photography. This has been a long time coming. I attended Watkins for five years and am so glad I stuck it out to get my degree. It was definitely not easy. College is not a cake walk and I spent many sleepless nights working on projects. Not to mention the week prior to my thesis show where I ran on very little to no sleep the entire week in preparation for my show. It’s hard to believe that it’s all over. I’ve met some amazing people while I’ve been at Watkins and am so glad that I lived in the dorms for the time that I was here. Sometimes it was really hard with all the loud noises and sometimes bad roommates but overall I think it was a positive experience. Even roughly 7 months later I still get giddy when I think about the fact that I’m a college graduate! I’m so glad I stuck through it and got my degree!
I GOT A FULL TIME JOB!
I have been working since June as the Admissions Office Manager at Watkins! Linda offered me the job shortly before graduation and I accepted. I love working in the admissions office and helping potential students find a school that fits them and their artistic needs. It has definitely been a challenge working here. I feel like I’m constantly behind during work and always have something to do with even more things to do piling on top of it but I love what I do and I love working with the admissions team. I feel grateful to have a full time job right out of graduation.
I celebrated my first Halloween in 5 years off of Watkins campus. The first 3 years I didn’t have a car and was unable to go off campus for Halloween fun and the last two years I was an RA and was required to host the Halloween Ball. This year as a graduate I spent the night in a way that I normally would not. I LOVE HALLOWEEN! It is my favorite holiday but unfortunately this year I was so busy working that I didn’t have time to put together a proper costume. Also this year I had no where to go. All of my friends who typically throw parties are no longer doing that and so this year I forwent the usual festivities and stayed it. I vegged on the couch with a bottle of wine, watched Halloween movies and handed out candy to trick or treaters. It was a great Halloween! Just wait til next year though. I’m going to start planning right now so next year I won’t get caught of guard. Also this is the usual face I get when I want a picture with Bobby. I’ve learned to accept that all photos will be like this and as a photographer I am having to deal with the fact that we might never have an actual photo of the two of us that doesn’t include some silly face.
I spent Christmas in Texas with J.B! I am so glad that I was able to take this trip. I definitely needed it. I was originally going to take this trip right after graduation as a graduation present to myself but was unable to afford the trip due to getting an apartment in Nashville. So since I get about 2 weeks off in December I decided to take my trip then. I am so glad that I did because I had a blast. I spent 8 days in Austin, TX with J.B exploring the city, relaxing and going to some of his shows. I got to visit the Driskill Hotel which was so amazingly beautiful! It was a dream! I also spent one day hiking and got to see the great view from the top of Mount Bonnell. It was definitely an adventure and I hope that I get to go again sometime.
And finally, to round out this year of amazing happenings I have to get a little sappy and give a shoutout to Bobby. We’ve been dating a year now and I could not be happier. It has been amazing actually getting to know him. For any of my readers who don’t know Bobby and I went to high school together but did not hang out with each other. We reconnected last November and it the best thing I’ve done this year. He’s so supportive of my crazy busy schedule between full time work, my part time job and my business. We’re both busy but we make it work somehow which I love. I’m also incredibly proud of him for becoming a Clarksville Police Officer. He is out serving Clarksville and I’m really happy he’s doing something that he loves. I can’t believe we’ve been together for a year already! It’s really crazy to think about. We’re both really stubborn but somehow it works out. 🙂
I hope you guys have enjoyed reading about and seeing some of the awesome things that have happened this year!
