I’m so excited to be celebrating with the Odems during their ONE year anniversary. This is such an exciting time for newly weds. Some people say that it is the hardest time to get through…that one  year mark. Well I’ve got some of the good, the bad and some helpful tips from these amazing newly weds! I had such a blast photographing the Odems wedding and can’t wait to share what they’ve experienced together during their first year of marriage. This is almost my first LGBTQ wedding and I could not be more thrilled to photograph two people who are so truly in love! check out some of my favorite portraits of them below as well as some of their trials, greatest accomplishments and their tips on how to survive the first year of marriage.

What are the greatest things you’ve experienced during your first year of marriage?

Friendship of those closest to us and the love and trust that we share.

I love this from Jo! It is so important to love and trust the one you are with and the friends you have along the way are going to be so important in supporting the love that the two of you share.

What has been your biggest struggle?

The biggest struggle was when our house was broken into. We didn’t know how to handle the situation but we kept the faith and stayed strong for one another.

This is sooo important for newly weds. Hopefully your struggle won’t be as traumatic as Jo and Tiffany’s but the sentiment is important. Being strong and keeping the faith for one another during hard times is a huge struggle. You promised your love one that you would stick by their side through sickness and in health, through good times and bad. Sometimes the bad times are really bad, but sticking by your partner will help them get through the hard times and will also help you. The support is great for the both of you!

What advice would you give to newly weds?

Communication is key! Everything you do in your relationship and your marriage is to support and trust one another and their decisions. Trust the other and everything will come together.

What was your favorite part of your wedding day?

The first look was definitely our first look. My eyes filled with tears when we looked back on the photos.

Hearing Jo and Tiffany’s favorite part of their big day got me thinking about my favorite part of their day. My favorite part had to do with when Tiffany walked down the aisle. It was a moment I will remember forever. Jo sang a special song that she had written and recorded as Tiffany walked down the aisle. There was not a dry eye in the house, including my own and my second photographer’s. It was a truly beautiful and magical moment. Congratulations Jo and Tiffany! I can’t wait to celebrate many more years of marriage with you and many more of life’s accomplishments!

Your future family heirlooms await.
