Hi guys,

I am bringing you a new series called “Top tips for Pinterest worthy photos”. Each blog post I’ll be giving you my top tips to have seamless and beautiful images whether they are wedding party or family photos. To kick off the series we will be talking about wedding party photos. So let’s dive into my top tips for having Pinterest worthy wedding party photos!

1. Let your wedding party know what to expect

Your bridesmaids, groomsmen, ushers, and personal attendants probably have an idea that they will be taking photos on your wedding day but make sure they know what is expected of them. I have seen days get way behind the schedule because people weren’t ready, took a trip to the bar, or seemingly disappeared because they didn’t know they needed to be in photos. So this first tip is extremely important! Make sure that anyone who is in your wedding party photos knows what time photos are and that they need to stay for all photos until they are told they are done. Let them know that sticking to your timeline is important so that you can capture all of the photos that are important to you!

2. Have a point person

More than likely your “point person” is going to be your Maid of Honor or Best Man. If it isn’t though, pick your most responsible party members and ask that they be in charge of rounding up everyone and keeping them on task. They can check that boutonnieres are pinned, that bridesmaids have the bouquets, and can help answer questions that the wedding party may have. The point person is going to help keep the wedding party organized so that you aren’t losing photo time because you’re searching for a missing bouquet!

3. Let them have fun

Now I know my first two tips were about helping the wedding party to stay on task and focused. That is extremely important especially when working with timelines. It’s also equally as important to let your friends have fun! We will capture the formal photos but it’s ok if the guys are goofing off or the girls are cracking up during some of the photos because those are the ones that are going to show real emotion. If they want to toss the groom in the air, take a silly photo, or have a crazy photo idea, roll with it! More than likely those are going to end up being the Pinterest worthy photos we’re talking about.

So there you have it! Overall, my top tip for the Pinterst worthy wedding party photos comes down to organization, fun, and staying on the scheduled timeline. You’ve already put in the work picking out the perfect colors, flowers, and venue. That will all come together to make for gorgeous wedding party photos!
