Hi guys,

You’ve said yes and now you’ve decided on an elopement, yay! While some people decide to elope because they don’t want to deal with planning a wedding, there is definitely still some planning that needs to happen with an elopement. But if planning isn’t your thing, no worries! This blog is here to walk you through the things you still need to think about if you are eloping.

1. When and where are you eloping?

You will want to decide these things of course! Will you be eloping somewhere far away or staying close to home? Figuring out the location and date are still things you have to decide on, even if it’s as simple as “in a few months and at the courthouse!”

2. If you’re traveling somewhere, how long will you be gone?

Many people turn their elopement into their honeymoon also! If you’re looking to elope in Nashville, it’s a great place to say “I Do” and then party as newlyweds!

3. Do you need to make any travel plans?

If you’re eloping away from home, you need to figure out if you’re driving or flying and where you’ll be staying. And even if you do elope in your hometown, will you be getting a hotel room to celebrate at or will you be going straight home?

4. What wedding vendors do you need to book?

Maybe you don’t have to hire a caterer for hundreds of guests, but you still probably want some select wedding vendors! Think about a photographer, videographer, and a florist if you want a bridal bouquet or boutonniere. You’ll want to reach out to these vendors as soon as possible!

5. What rules or laws do you need to follow?

For example, if you’re planning to elope in a National Park you will need a permit! If you’re traveling to another country, is it legal to elope there? Or do you need to get married locally and then can have an unofficial ceremony where you want? Those are some things to research!

6. Will you be having a true elopement or a micro wedding?

Some people want to elope but still want their parents, or siblings, or best friend to attend. Decide if that’s something you’d like and if so, let them know the date and location as soon as possible!

7. What will you be doing after the elopement?

If you’re traveling and making it part of your honeymoon, great! If you’re staying more local, are you doing anything after the ceremony to celebrate? You could go out to dinner, rent a limo and drink champagne, or really do anything you want!

These are just a few of the top questions you want to walk through to start planning your elopement! Of course I am here to help and happy to answer any questions for my eloping couples.
