Today I am giving you my top 3 reasons to book an engagement session. If an engagement session is something you’re on the fence about, I definitely think this blog post is for you! Getting engaged is an incredibly important and exciting milestone in your relationship! It’s also one that I believe deserves to be documented for a number of reasons, so let’s get to them.
1. Getting comfortable
This is going to be my top reason for booking an engagement session! Getting comfortable in front of the camera is incredibly important and something that will help your wedding day photos feel like a breeze. Even if you’ve taken photos before, getting comfortable with me and in front of my camera, is an even more specific reason to take engagement photos. Most people aren’t super comfortable in front of the camera, and that’s totally ok! It’s my job to help you be comfortable. When we do an engagement session together, you’ll get to learn what type of posing and prompting I’ll do with you for your photos.
You’ll also get to understand how it feels to be taking photos with me! Oftentimes prompts that I have you do during your engagement session, I’ll repeat on your wedding day. So when I tell your fiance to nuzzle into your ear, they will know exactly what to do on your wedding day because they’ve already done it during the engagement session! You guys will also get to shake off any nerves you have about taking professional photos during your engagement session. So on your wedding day you’ll feel like seasoned pros!
2. Lasting memories
The engagement stage is often a very quick stage of life for most couples. It deserves to be captured and allows you guys to have lasting memories of your engagement! Planning a wedding, calling each other “fiance” for the first time, and getting used to your new ring are all fun things that come with being engaged. Getting professional photos taken that showcase this time of life is also a milestone that you deserve to enjoy. You’ll look back at these photos just as much as your wedding photos and remember how you felt in that moment. Getting married is a huge adventure and getting engaged is the first step of it. So commemorate this time with some beautiful photos of you guys celebrating that you said YES!
3. Wedding decor
Another great reason to have engagement photos taken is to use them for planning your wedding! One of the best ways to use your engagement photos (besides of course updating your Facebook profile pic) is to use them on Save the Dates and wedding invitations! This is a super common way to use your new engagement photos.
You can also have your engagement photos printed out to use as decorations during the rehearsal dinner or wedding reception. You can even print out an album of them for guests to flip through during your cocktail hour! Another way to use your engagement photos is to get one printed, matted, and framed. Then you can use it as your guest book and have guests sign the mat so you can frame it in your home!
