This blog is one that you may want to (not so secretly) send over to your significant other because we are talking about surprise proposals today! Yes, aren’t most proposals surprises? But we’re talking about planning an epic one where you will have photos to capture this amazing moment!

You’ve met the love of your life and are ready to get down on one knee. Yay! If you’ve made it this far and have decided that you want to capture it on camera, then I am about to become your new best friend. First you will want to reach out to me and we will start creating a plan together. You may already have an idea of when and where you want to propose but we will nail down the date, location, and even the time!

The details:

I’ll be able to give you the best advice for time of day and lighting situations. We could set up a pretend session at night so that I can use flash to capture the photos and it will seem natural versus if I’m just hiding in a bush and a flash starts firing off. We can also look at sunset times together to time it up for when you pop the question!

I will also help you nail down the little details you may not have thought of. For example, where you should be standing during the proposal! That may seem silly but we will actually want to have the details down to where you stand decided on so that I don’t miss an important moment for you. We’ll talk about the location and decide where you guys will stand, where I will hide (if I’m hiding) and even the cue so that I know you’re about to get down on one knee. Speaking of getting down on one knee, I have a piece of advice! You’ll want to stay down on one knee longer than you think so that I can make sure to get the proposal photo!

Once the proposal is done, I will come out of hiding and we’ll let your fiancé know the entire proposal was photographed! All of my surprise proposal packages come with champagne for you to celebrate with. You’ll also get 30 minutes of engagement type photos.

I don’t want to scare anyone who is about to plan a surprise proposal by mentioning all the little details! With just a bit of time and communication we can easily plan out a perfect proposal that your partner won’t suspect. Plus we will capture memories for you that will last a lifetime! We can make it as extravagant or simple as you’d like. At the end of the day I want to help you plan a proposal that feels true to you two. I’ll be there to document it for you!

Quick suggestions for your surprise proposal:

  1. To ensure you’re both dressed up more than usual, plan your proposal around a date night or special occasion! You don’t want to be suspicious so you could suggest going out to eat somewhere fancy so you naturally dress up. You could also propose during a special occasion like a birthday, anniversary, or another event where you’re dressed up.

  1. This gets even trickier but try to plan a time when her nails are done! Have her mom or best friend ask if she wants to go get a manicure so that she’ll have fresh nails when she says “YES!” I promise, any girl will be thanking you when they have a fresh manicure for their new ring shot!
