Debora and I have always loved the Opryland resort in Nashville, TN where she lives. The lights, the gardens, the music…it’s like stepping into wonderland! This was the perfect place to propose! One evening I told her that I had a special date planned at one of our favorite spots. As we drove she kept peppering me with questions, trying to get me to reveal the big surprise. I kept quiet and smiled, still in awe that the dawn of our shared life together was just minutes away! She was ecstatic when she found out that we were having dinner at Opryland! As she began walking towards a particular restaurant I stopped her told her I wanted to visit a special garden we hadn’t seen in a long time. Hand in hand, we walked down the steps toward the Crystal Gazebo. As if on cue, the evening lamps miraculously began to burn, bathing that fateful spot with a soft warm glow. I told Debora how much I loved her and how deeply I enjoyed making memories together. I knelt down, pulled out the ring, and asked her to be my wife. Her jaw dropped, and her heart soared! Sparks flew, tears mingled with joyous laughter, and the rest is history!
Being engaged is so much more than a mere label to us. Her ring is a reminder to both of us of our unconditional commitment to cherishing one another for the rest of our days. Don’t get me wrong, we both loved dating! But the commitment of engagement has given us so much assurance and peace too deep for words to express. Our friendship, romance, and affection have never been so sweet! I am truly marrying my best friend and the love of my life.
As glorious as our engagement has been, it has been made all the more joyful by our friends and family. They have surrounded us with so much love and support. As I look into the future my heart overflows with joy and confidence from being poured into by so many people. And the best part is that this is only the beginning!!!
