I can’t believe I’m writing my final review of my internship. It has been so crazy to work with Amber especially while I was finishing up my senior year at Watkins. I loved getting to know her and her adorable twins. When I started looking for my third and final internship to round out my educational career at Watkins I knew that I wanted someone that dealt with newborns and families. I interned with Adair Freeman and did a lot of family and commercial based work. Then I worked with Matt Andrew who does all weddings and learned an insane amount from him and finally I knew that I wanted someone who did newborns so that I could get in more practice. Amber offered to let me intern with her and I’m so glad that I did. Not only did I learn so much from working with her both in editing, album design and on sessions but she also introduced me to an amazing group of photographers who have been so open to helping me with my business. I learned so much from doing newborn sessions with her and now know a great deal more about posing and proper camera angles than I did before working with her. I also learned that an experienced assistant is always better to have on hang as they can help you calm the baby and make transitions smooth. I am so grateful to Amber for letting me be apart of her life and her business while I was an intern and cannot wait to work with her more as she needs an assistant for other sessions. Amber was also amazing enough to help me plan and execute a styled maternity session. I have never really done a styled session before where I had complete control of every aspect of the session but am so excited with how it turned out. Brooke is such a gorgeous mom and was perfect for the golden goddess theme I planned. I loved this session so much that I can’t wait to plan more styled sessions; maybe a wedding will be my next styled photo shoot. 🙂 I hope you guys enjoy a roundup of some of my favorites from sessions I did with Amber.
